Managing Estimator

The client

My client are a highly experienced, established CAT A & CAT B refurbishment contractor with a strong national presence (especially in the North West).

They work on large scale office fit out projects (£10-£15 million in value). This client has a requirement for a degree qualified Managing Estimator.

The candidate

The successful candidate will be joining the existing team of passionate and dedicated professionals. You will be required to manage an existing team of three estimators.The successful candidate will be overlooking all Estimating aspects on large scale commercial fit out projects across the North West as part of the Regional team & will be reporting into the Commercial Director.

The Managing Estimator will support the pre-construction team for preparing tenders to secure projects within the Commercial fit out sector. In particular competitive design and build tenders for refurbishment projects including liaising with the design and preconstruction teams to deliver innovative solution.

They’re involved in a vast array of schemes ranging from £500k up to £15m. Our client is a well recognised business within the interior / fit out / refurbishment market and they are currently enjoying very steady, planned & sustainable growth.

The Role

Understand project requirements

Manage the estimating assurance and governance process

Obtain the most competitive quotes by understanding current market trends.

Prepare detailed accurate material, labor, equipment, subcontracts, construction facilities, etc. estimates.

Identify and report on risk and opportunity /scope

Present cost estimates to meet customer proposals, providing consideration for general and special conditions.

Utilise, interpret and represent benchmark data

Assess tender documentation, requirements and report findings to team

Develop tender strategy and continuously monitor

Ensure all supplementary information is in place

Prepare scope specifications and requirements, prepare and inputs project schedules, perform quantity takeoffs, prepare cost summary sheets, and input quantities into estimating software

Review Company jobs and compare on a timely basis to as-sold estimates to confirm accuracy of estimate.

The candidate

All applicants must have estimated large commercial fit out projects from first principles.

You must have experience managing estimators / an estimating team.

Salary

£55,000 – £75,000 plus package
